About John P. McKeown
John P. McKeown focuses his practice exclusively on complex family law matters including, pre/post-nuptial agreements, divorce, parenting time and custody disputes, property division, and post-decree modifications.
Mr. McKeown is committed to using a thoughtful, analytical approach to achieve the best outcome for his clients and their families. Mr. McKeown aims to create an attorney-client relationship built on respect, communication, and trust.
Mr. McKeown received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame where he graduated cum laude and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Arabic. After graduating, he spent more than seven years as a national security analyst at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Mr. McKeown worked on complex counterterrorism investigations, some of which received national and international media attention.
Following his service with the FBI, Mr. McKeown attended Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he received his J.D. cum laude. During law school he received the CALI award for the highest grade in Legal Research and Writing IV (Civil Litigation).
Prior to his admission to the Illinois bar, Mr. McKeown worked as a law clerk at Beermann LLP where he developed a solid foundation in the practice of family law.
