Erik M. Berner

“Navigating a divorce or custody dispute can be one of the most emotionally difficult times in an individual’s life. It is important to have an advocate on your side who understands this and has the skills to make the process as painless as possible, while securing the best outcome for your future.”

About Erik M. Berner

Mr. Berner has spent his career counseling clients on dissolution of marriage, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support and maintenance, parental alienation, high conflict custody disputes, domestic violence, child custody jurisdiction, and all other aspects of family law. Mr. Berner is a zealous advocate when necessary, but understands the financial prudence of an amicable resolution that is expeditious, and satisfactory to all sides.

Mr. Berner grew up in the Southwest suburbs and attended Providence Catholic High School before obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in History and English at Loyola University Chicago. He then attended UCLA for law school, obtaining his J.D., and began a clerkship at a premier family law firm in Beverly Hills. After graduation, Mr. Berner continued at the same family law firm, handling high net worth and celebrity family law matters, including those involving high conflict custody disputes, division of complex and high value assets, protection from domestic abuse, and navigation of media scrutiny. Mr. Berner recently moved home to Chicago and is excited to apply his skills in Illinois.

Erik enjoys spending his free time reading, writing, and dabbling in photography, while actively participating in the Chicago Lithuanian-American community.
